Day 43: Thu 5 Jul – Alice Springs

6 (feels like 4) - 28 deg C; not quite as fresh this morning!  

After breakfast we rode out to the Alice Springs Telegraph Station Reserve. The Reserve marks the original site of the first European settlement in Alice Springs. Established in 1871 to relay messages between Darwin and Adelaide and also linking with London via an underwater cable network, consequently creating the first real communication between Australia and England.  It is the era's most intact Telegraph Station. 

Back home for lunch and a little rest before Greg went out again to the Cultural Precinct and Aviation Museum. The limited art work was stunning and the Beanie exhibition was leftovers from the Beanie festival held last week.  

We met with G&Y at 5:30pm for pre-dinner drinks before making our way to Uncles Tavern for dinner; our traditional Thursday night pub dinner.
