After our morning walk, breakfast, and pack up, we didn't do a lot today apart from drive. We left Coober Pedy about 9:15am and stopped for mornos at Ingomar Rest Area which was a huge area with plenty of concrete tables and bench seats under cover for the weary traveller. We pushed on with brews-to-go to Glendambo for fuel and lunch.
We only had another 70km odd to get to our final destination - Lake Hart. G&Y had stayed here two years ago and said that it was probably worth stopping at for at least one night. When we arrived, we found we couldn't get down to the place where they parked two years ago as a big trench had been dug to dissuade travellers from straying from the free-camp and hopefully allow for some regeneration of the landscape which some unthinking people have denuded (cut down trees just to be able to make a fire!) Anyway, the area at the top was just as good but not as close to the salt lake. We found a decent spot and set up camp for the night. We then went for a walk down to the lake and out onto it. The water had receded somewhat from the last time G&Y were here and the salt had thickened. We had a lovely wander just taking in the natural beauty of it all. On the way back to the van, we had to cross the railway line and not long after a really long train came by.
Back at the van we did some admin before having pre-dinner drinks with the Fischer’s and then dinner in the van.
