12-33 deg C, certainly getting warmer!
We left Undara just before 9am headed for Mount Surprise where we stopped for mornos. We brewed up in the van and had it under the trees on the side of the main street of Mt Surprise (aka Highway 1!) G&Y joined us not long after and we all took a wander through the Mt Surprise railway yard. That done, we continued our journey Westwards.
A quick
check of the Fuel App told us that we could get relatively cheap diesel at
Georgetown Ampol for $1.489 when the rest up to Normanton and Karumba were
$1.529 to $1.569! So, whilst we didn't really need to refuel, we did. We then
had lunch in the park not far from the servo. As we had decent internet, Wendy
decided to do half a day's work in the park (what an office?!) whilst G&Y
continued to our next stop.
We joined G&Y at the Gilbert River West rest stop about 3:30pm, set up an had a cuppa (Greg did anyway). Then we all went for a walk to the bridge and took photos whilst braving the traffic that was crossing (it wasn't that busy but it was a one-lane bridge so we had to be aware).
We then
had pre-dinner drinks and dinner and then settled in to listen to the
State-of-Origin on the wireless as although the internet access was great, TV
was non-existent. We didn’t think about on-demand TV!
Not sure what the full-time score was as we were in bed just after half-time.
