Day 60: Sun 22 Jul – Wilpena Pound

4 (0) - 16 deg C

After a very lazy start (it was quite cold outside) Wendy did a couple of loads of washing in the WAFTAM machine, went for a faster than usual walk, then did some MEPS work. Greg went for a wander up St Mary’s Peak. Well, it was more like a hard hike. He went up the short way and took two hours (supposed to take three) and came back the long way which took just over another three hours (takes most people six). Overall, 21.5km in a little over five hours. Not bad for climb of over 600m. He was quite buggered when he returned. After a nice hot shower and a couple of stretches, he felt almost normal again.

G&Y have decided to head home tomorrow, so we had our last pre-dinner drinks and reminisced about the last almost nine weeks travelling together. We will miss their company as we have really enjoyed travelling together and seeing stuff we have not seen before.

The clouds had started to come over and whilst it was still quite cold, it wasn’t quite as cold as it has been.  Dinner was not long after. Before bed we watched the stage highlights of last night’s TDF.
