Day 57: Thu 19 Jul – Port Augusta

5 (2) - 21 (18) deg C

We only left home about 9:30am after a nice sleep-in and breakfast. We had a nice ride into town, found the coffee shop and had mornos before setting off again to see more of Port Augusta. We found the bike path and headed south as far as the hospital. On our return to the city we came across the Railway Station which had a Platform Gallery, so in we went. The gallery featured mainly photographs on canvas and knitted/crocheted stuff. Some of the photos were quite stunning and had we not been in the van and not had so far to go to get home, we may have purchased at least one piece. Back into the city for a few more groceries and then went home for a late lunch.

After lunch Gunther came over to say they would be taking a walk to the Water Tower Lookout soon, but would let us know when. A short while later he came back to say they would be leaving in five minutes as the weather seemed to be closing in. We made it to the lookout and back via the pub we would have dinner at (just to check the menu) just before the heavens opened up. The wind and rain were amazing; we felt sorry for the people just coming into the park at the time the storm struck. The temperature plummeted as well, so much so we had to put the heater on. We watched the replay of the TDU from last night as we waited for the weather to pass.

We were to have pre-dinner drinks before heading to the pub however, the weather put a stop to that. We were at the pub at 6pm, and it was lucky we had booked a table as there were a lot of people. All meals were quite delicious and very large.

A short drive home and it was time to blog, clean the teeth, shower and sleep.
