We left just before 9:30am and the first stop was not far away - JB HiFi at Stockland Earlville. Wendy wanted a new iPhone as the battery in her iPhone 6 has been playing up for a number of months now; she really should have bought one before leaving home so she could spend the appropriate time setting it up. Anyway, the stop took all of 20 minutes and we were back on the road.
Mornos stop was at Cattana Wetlands, part of an old sugar cane farm and sand and gravel mine preserved and transformed into a natural wonderland. It includes 30 hectares of regionally significant forest and several large freshwater and saltwater lakes. After mornos, we took a wander through the forest however, many of the tracks were closed for maintenance.
We pushed on to our home for the next few nights on a cane farm midway between Port Douglas and Mossman. The farm belongs to a friend of Yvonne's from way back (Lynelle and Chris) and they kindly offered to put us all up. On arrival and after setting up we had lunch and were informed by Sue and Mark they would not be joining us for a number of days, possibly weeks as they had to go back home and then onto Sydney for some business.
After lunch we all went to Mossman Gorge for a look and a wander. It has changed since all of us were here last in that you can no longer drive right up to the gorge, but you have to pay for a ride in a bus which takes you to the gorge. Apparently, there is a local tribe which are not very keen on all the visitors traversing through their land to get to the gorge.
We had pre-dinner drinks with the farm owners, their son Ben, friend Carl and neighbour Matt. Wendy left early to try and set up her new phone, which only made her frustrated and achieved nothing! Dinner was just the six of us.
